Short But Sweet, Polite And Respectful #7

Žudnja - Nervoza // Nekroza

Žudnja is a promising project from Novi Sad, Serbia. Musically located somewhere between post-metal and atmospheric screamo, their first release sounds impressive. I don’t know why but for me their sound creates the kind of vibe I felt during Remek’s performance at last year’s fluff fest. And this is definitely not a bad thing. Žudnja is a band you all should keep on your radar for spring/summer 2015 and beyond.

UnaxManoxAlxCuello - UxMxAxC

Una Mano Al Cuello unites musicians from ¡Silencio, Ahora, Silencio! (Respectively Eros + Massacre), Living For a Poo Poo and Hope 4 Youth. Hailing from Salamanca, Spain, their unique sound can be described as a wild blend of emo- and powerviolence. And you know what? This combination kicks ass! Already after the first few seconds the furious ride begins. The Spanish powerhouse gallops through the first four songs till the intro of the last track offers some calmer tones, letting you take a breath. But no matter how fast the quintet sweeps across you, the vocals and the instruments are always on the point, perfectly arranged to a highly recommendable debut Extended Play.

Nayru - This Disease of Language

Currently attracting a lot of attention, Nayru from San Diego, California, is one of the most interesting bands in screamo right now. Their latest output, This Disease of Language, will likely benefit this status. The new EP consists of six intense and violent songs, full of complex sound structures with various changes of tempo, sometimes disharmonic and hysteric, but from time to time also melodically and beautiful. The huge musical range of this record is astonishing, not least because of the closing, balladesque “Rose Parade”. For me this awesome release is definitely a strong contender for my End-Of-The-Year-List.

“Release from the heavy breathing, he didn’t feel a thing, except the years of pain. We all felt it too, but could never run in his shoes and he ran, he ran as fast as he could but he couldn’t escape his fate and died in his sleep.”
