All ears on Heavy Weather! Published by Chainsaw to the Bass Records, the selftitled demo by Heavy Weather contains three tracks, full of filigree math rock guitar riffs, which are combined with classy screamo vox and from time to time also spoken word and clean vox. This wide range provides alternation on every track. On this beautiful Extended Play, the band from Calgary was able to build a unique bridge between epicness and melancholy, without losing the character of a skramz record. The tape is available on cassette.

Recently played on the open Stage at Fluff, the Smudjas from Milano excels thanks to their grandiose punky Emo Sound. While the instruments create a powerful and joyful foundation, the melancholic vocals, declaimed by the husky voice of Pamela, add the certain kind of something. This terrific combination sounds promising in every way! Watch out, this Italian threepiece kicks ass!

A few months ago we wrote a few lines about the pre-released “Alp d'Huez”. Now we can finally listen to the rest of Moro’s debut EP. “Entrüstet” contains four songs; each of them is named after a famous Tour de France climb but thematically the political screamo fourpiece from Hamburg takes another direction, transporting a strong message about nowadays' rape culture and sexism. Forests is another amazing band from Singapore. Taking Emo to the beach, the threepiece from Lion City draws influence out of different genres. Their exciting blend out of mathy screamo/emo and even pop punk elements creates a cheerful and entertaining listening experience! The EP, which will be released on tape, features three songs. You can pre-order “Worst Beach Vacation ever, circa 1997” via Lithe Records.

This soon to be released split will be the first output from 5 headed screamo collective Trueth, which features members of WCOLT, Crows-An-Wra and Boxkite. The remaining songs of the split are contributed by Healing Powers and Akallabêth. The 3-way-split will be released on 12’’ through collaboration of Wolf Town, Boslevan Records and Get Into It Records. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

Tapestry is a three piece emotional rock band from Singapore throwing you back to times right between I Hate Myself, American Football and The Get Up Kids. The band’s 2 track EP “An invisible boundary, a set distance” is rollercoaster ride of hope, despair and longing, perfectly painted by the jingling guitars, drums that roam from reservation to uproar and a voice caught in-between melody and brokenness.

For this release Human Hands teamed up with “Mars To Stay” from Wales. While the sound of Human Hands can be described as rough, sometimes reminding me of Indian Summer the sound of the Welshmen is a lot more calmer. “Rot” by Human Hands, which opens the split is characterized by the pulsating bass and drums, sometimes punctuated with distorted guitars and desperate screams. The gloomy “In memoriam” which can be found on side B seems like the perfect counterpart. Accomplished combination.

Moro is a screamo fourpiece hailing from Hamburg, Germany. With “L’Alpe d’Huez” they just released their first song ever. It’s intense and heavy, musically reminding me of classy 90’s screamo. Listening to “L’Alpe d’Huez” definitely gives you a vague idea of the potential this band has. As you can read on their bandcamp page this song will be part of their debut EP “entrüsted”, which will be released later on.
